ByeBar is built by Matt Ivan. This policy describes how the extension handles information on your device.
Summary
Data stays local. ByeBar does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. There is no telemetry.
What is stored on your device
ByeBar saves extension settings using the browser's built-in storage API (`storage.sync`, with a fallback to `storage.local` on Safari). This includes:
- Whether blocking is enabled globally and per site
- Your toggle preferences (cookie decline, newsletter overlays, etc.)
Settings stay on your device and sync only through your browser vendor's extension sync, if you use it.
What ByeBar does on web pages
ByeBar runs content scripts on pages you visit to hide or remove intrusive overlays and to click decline/accept buttons when you have those options enabled. It does not read page content for analytics, does not intercept network traffic, and does not block ads.
Third parties
ByeBar does not embed third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Optional links in the popup (for example, filing a GitHub issue) open only when you click them.
